Most Western Laundry

The Most Western Laundry site sits vacant after a 1994 fire destroyed the structure.

SITE BACKGROUND

The Most Western Laundry site is about 15,000 square feet in size and located at 16th and B Streets in Hoquiam. Most Western Laundry and Dry Cleaners, Inc. bought the site in 1964 and ran it as an industrial and commercial laundry and dry cleaner. In 1978 they installed a dry cleaning unit that used tetrachloroethylene (perc). The distiller units produced spent perc, which is a listed federal and state regulated waste. Spills occurred to the ground, migrating to the storm sewer and eventually the Hoquiam River
