Toxics Cleanup Program

Public Involvement Opportunities

Graphic: World in HandsEcology wants to keep you involved!  Community involvement is very important during the cleanup process and there are several key steps where public input is needed.  Public involvement can include attending public meetings, submitting written comments during public comment periods, and educating the community.

When can I make a public comment?

Typically, Ecology will ask for public input on legal agreements with Rayonier, major cleanup decisions, cleanup work plans, and draft reports (see below).  To receive notification of public comment periods, please contact Hannah Aoyagi (360-407-6790), Public Involvement Coordinator, to be added to the mailing list.

How can I be involved?

Individuals, organizations, and other agencies may submit written comments during public comment periods and attend public meetings.   Public Participation Grants  are available for non-profit organizations interested in monitoring the cleanup and helping to prevent pollution.  Olympic Environmental Council is a current grantee.
