A PUGET SOUND INITIATIVE site – Reaching the goal of a healthy, sustainable Puget Sound now and forever

SITE BACKGROUND

Importance: This site is located along the Snohomish River.  Cleanup of this site will help to protect against contaminants entering the adjacent surface water and sediments, and promote habitat restoration.  The adjacent Snohomish River provides vital habitat for marine animals including federally threatened salmon.

Status:  This site is located within the Everett Smelter Site.  Ecology and the Port of Everett are working cooperatively to address the impacts from the Everett Smelter Site on the Riverside Business Park, but future cleanup activities are partially dependent on the outcome of a settlement with ASARCO, currently pending in bankruptcy proceedings.  The status of the site will be updated when additional information becomes available.
