Numerous buildings, sheds, piers, tailings ponds, boilers, fuel storage tanks, a smokestack and burners were located on the northern portion of this former pulp mill site. Remaining contaminants of concern to be investigated in this area of the site include: petroleum; carcinogenic polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (cPAHs); dioxins/furans; metals; polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs); and deleterious substances (e.g., wood), brick, metal, and slag in the marine environment. Public Meeting to be held January 4, 2005, 7:00-9:00pm
A public comment period was recently held on a draft interim action work plan for temporary shoreline bank stabilization at the northern portion of the former Scott Paper Mill site. During the comment period, held between November 29 and December 9, 2004, several community members requested a public meeting to discuss the proposed interim action work plan. In response to this request, Ecology will hold a public meeting on January 4th, 7:00- 9:00pm, at the Municipal Building (City Hall), 6th Street and Q Avenue, Anacortes, Washington.
