The Commencement Bay Trustee Council has overseen NRD efforts in Commencement Bay since the early 1990s.  The Commencement Bay Natural Resource Trustees include National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), US Fish and Wildlife Service, The Puyallup Tribe of Indians, The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, and the Washington State Department of Ecology.   Detailed information about the Trustee Council is available on NOAA’s website at: http://www.cbrestoration.noaa.gov/index.html.

Many NRD settlements have occurred in the Commencement Bay area, funding or contributing to more than 20 habitat restoration projects.  These projects protect or improve vital habitat to contribute to ecosystem recovery from contamination in Commencement Bay.
