January 2010 Comment Period
Ecology is holding a public comment period February 1 through
March 5, 2010 on an Agreed Order for planning Interim Actions
(partial cleanup actions). Interim Actions will focus on a
portion of the site called the Study Area, which includes the
mill property and parts of the nearby marine environment.
Ecology is holding a public open house on Wednesday, February
10th, 2010, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm, at the
Port Angeles
Senior Center Multipurpose Room. More information
about the comment period and open house is available in the fact
sheet.

- Responsiveness Summary for the Uplands Remedial Investigation Report – This
document responds to public comments on the 2006 report.
Based on public comments and further review, Ecology concluded
that the upland portion of the site had not been fully defined.
This information has helped inform the approach under the new
Agreed Order.
- Restrictive Covenant
– A 1992 Ecology
enforcement order required cleanup in the area of the
Finishing Room along Ennis Creek. As part of the Interim Action
(partial cleanup), a restrictive covenant was placed on the
property to protect the remedy. In 1998 and 2002, Rayonier
completed further interim actions in the area, making the
restrictive covenant no longer necessary. Ecology is proposing
removing the restrictive covenant and is looking for public
input during this comment period.
