On April 19th 2006 a notice of intent (NOI) to sue for violations of the Endangered Species Act was filed against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The notice was filed by a coalition of environmental groups including People for Puget Sound, Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, National Wildlife Federation, Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER), Washington Trout and Audubon Society. After the NOI is filed, EPA has 60 days to respond, should they choose to. After the 60 days have passed, the lawsuit may be filed in federal court. Neither Ecology nor Washington State have been included in the NOI.
