Upland Fin-Fish Hatching and Rearing General NPDES Permit

Permit Purpose and Background

The current Upland Fin-Fish Hatching and Rearing General Permit (Hatchery Permit) expired on August 1, 2015 and was administratively extended. The Department of Ecology is beginning the process to rewrite the Hatchery Permit. Facilities covered under this General Permit were required to reapply for coverage by February 1, 2015 (180 days before the expiration of the current permit) per section S10 Application for Permit Renewal. The permit conditions the discharge of pollutants from upland hatcheries and rearing facilities into waters of the state. The permit implements the Federal Clean Water Act, the State Water Pollution Control Act, and Chapter 173-221A WAC.
