Vessel Deconstruction General Permit
The Vessel Deconstruction National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permit defines appropriate requirements to prevent the discharge of pollutants resulting from the deconstruction of vessels over water.
Older vessels near the end of their life-cycle pose significant risks to public health, safety, and the environment. Removal and disposal of these vessels is a high priority. Ecology developed and issued this general permit to create an additional option for deconstruction. It does not replace individual NPDES permits to shipyards or general permits to boatyards also permitted to perform vessel deconstruction.
