The Washington State Department of Ecology issues general permits for the application of herbicides to control aquatic weeds in irrigation water conveyance systems.
The Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) revised the Aquatic Pesticide Irrigation District General Permit. The new permit is now available. It became effective as of March 21, 2008.
During the revision process Ecology used a Permit Advisory Committee to gather input from the stakeholders. Once they completed their reviews, Ecology held a public comment period on the draft permit from November 7, 2007 to January 11, 2008.
