The purpose of this task is to further refine the model developed in Phase 2 for PCB (polychlorinated biphenyl) loading to Puget Sound. This task will extend the model to include PBDEs (polybrominated diphenyl ethers) as well as other data collected during Phases 2 and 3. Ecology will use the updated model to predict environmental outcomes that might be expected from different toxics reduction alternatives. Work to be accomplished includes:
(a) Refine the Puget Sound toxics model developed in Phase 2 to include PBDEs. Incorporate data collected in Phase 2 and Phase 3 into the refined model. If the timeline for model refinement overlaps with the timeline for Phase 3 data collection, use the data that are available at that time from Phase 3.
(b) Use the refined model to evaluate how different management actions may reduce toxic chemicals in Puget Sound. Summarize findings in a written report.
