The purpose of this task is to characterize the amount of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in the municipal wastewater discharged to Puget Sound, and evaluate PPCP removal through various wastewater treatment approaches.
Expected Outcome: Improved loading estimates, preliminary assessment of treatment technologies, and support for subsequent strategic decisions for reducing PPCPs from municipal wastewater.
The Department of Ecology's Environmental Assessment Program will oversee this sub-task.
