Sub-Task 3J:  Persistent Organic Pollutants in Three Guilds of Pelagic Marine Species from the Puget Sound

The purpose of this task is to assess the effects of stormwater on biota, and determine the toxic chemical concentrations that have accumulated within certain species to better understand how various trophic levels interact within the Puget Sound food web.

Sub-Task J-1 will focus on marine mammals (harbor seals).

Sub-Task J-2 will focus on marine mammal prey (fish).

Sub-Task J-5 will focus on plankton.

Sub-Task J-8 will assess the biological effects of toxics in stormwater from urban areas on various life stages of salmonids.

Expected Outcome: Improved input data for Puget Sound modeling, support for evaluations of environmental quality standards, and support and validation for implementing stormwater control actions and best management practices.
