Water Quality Standards Proposed Rule Typographic Changes

The Department of Ecology plans minor rule changes

The current version of the Water Quality Standards was adopted in 2006 with significant changes. Since that time, the agency identified a number of typographic errors and portions of the text that need more clarification. A rule-making process is planned to address the typos and clarifications. No substantive changes will be included in this revision; the rule’s implementation or the designated uses of waters will not be affected.

The following are examples of the typographical errors and clarifications included in this rule-making:

  • Missing references to a section of the rule.
  • Clarifications/errors such as eliminating text pertaining only to fresh waters that appears in the marine section.
  • Mistake in equation for Ammonia criterion (error when rule was published).
  • Imprecise or erroneous latitude/longitude values or incorrect section-township-range locations in Table 602.

For the full text of the rule with changes marked and an explanation of each change see the sidebar at right.

Public hearings will be held for these revisions and will be announced soon.
