Ecology makes efforts to inform all interested parties and concerned citizens on new developments throughout the water quality improvement project (also known as Total Maximum Daily Load, or TMDL) process. For example, everyone on the project's mailing list receives meeting notes and announcements, and this web site is updated periodically. In addition, the Walla Walla Watershed Planning Unit publishes a news letter and posts the meeting announcements on their web site.
One avenue for public participation is through the Watershed Planning Group’s Water Quality Subcommittee. The group consists of representatives from various agencies and interested landowners. They provide input on the implementation strategies and TMDL documents. Their help is important to ensure the implementation plan is tailored to local needs. The group normally meets once a month to discuss the TMDL issues.
Due to the complexity of dealing with several TMDLs, Ecology is taking a team approach. Each team member has a specific role in the TMDL process. Questions, concerns or observations may be directed to any team members.
For information on the TMDLs, how to get on the mailing list, or join the Water Quality Subcommittee, please contact one of the Ecology TMDL Team members:
