CEU Update
If you are taking classes to meet your specific requirement for your professional growth, make sure that wastewater is the primary focus of the training or it will earn relevant CEUs. Don’t be fooled by a class title – the class can be named anything – it’s the content that counts. Check the content before you sign up for classes, some of the CEU roundup class’s primary focus is on drinking water and will earn relevant CEUs. When in doubt ask – email or call Poppy or Melinda for clarification.

Professional Growth Requirement Reminder
We want to remind you that beginning with the 2009 professional growth period; one Continuing Education Unit (CEU) must be specific to wastewater, while the remaining two CEUs can be relevant to wastewater.  What that means is that no matter how many CEUs you have, unless one of them is specific, you haven't met your professional growth requirement.

Specific training is directly related to improving competencies in areas that relate to operating a wastewater treatment plant.  Specific trainings include things like wastewater treatment process, operation and maintenance of equipment, and lab procedures.

Relevant training does not directly relate to operating a wastewater treatment plant, but is accepted for CEUs towards meeting professional growth.  Relevant trainings include things like drinking water, safety, collections, and management training.

When is professional growth documentation due?
