Water Quality Stories:
Successes and Lessons Learned

Water Quality Stories are descriptive examples of water quality improvement and protection projects.

The environmental goals of the Water Quality Program are, in part:

  • Prevent water pollution
  • Clean up water pollution
  • Help communities make sustainable choices that reduce and prevent water quality problems

Each story illustrates some method(s) used to help meet these goals.

The stories showcased in this website cover both small- and large-scale projects that target water quality issues.  These stories provide a wealth of information associated with novel project designs, funding ideas, and useful resource suggestions. Some are clear successes; others supply valuable lessons to help us grow in our understanding of water quality protection and restoration.  This collection of stories is a cross-section of performances and cooperation from Washington’s citizens and organizations
