DRAFT Mitigation Suitability Map
This site is designed to help ground water users identify mitigation water for their projects in the Lower Kittitas Basin. Mitigation can generally be achieved by acquiring an existing water right to offset a new use in the same water source.
Mitch Williams and Amerivest have conveyed two Manastash Creek water rights to Ecology's Trust Water Right Program to make water available for mitigation purposes in certain areas of the Kittitas Valley. Water is now available to mitigate for impacts to Yakima Basin Total Water Supply Available in the Kittitas Valley from the Thorpe area downstream to the entrance to the Yakima River Canyon below Ellensburg. This trust water right will vary in its effectiveness to serve as mitigation for new ground water users, depending primarily on where the proposed new use of ground water will be located.
Once these rights are accepted in the State’s Trust Water Right Program, they will vary in effectiveness to serve as mitigation for new groundwater uses, depending primarily on where the proposed new use is located. Ecology has created a Draft Mitigation Suitability Map for the SwiftWater Trust Water Rights.

Consumptive Use Calculator (Microsoft Excel format) The calculator allows you to estimate the total water use and the consumptive water use based on number of connections and square feet of irrigation, consistent with WAC 173-539A. Example of Calculator |
