In 2008 and 2009, Columbia River Basin Grants were awarded through a competitive process conducted during a fixed time period. After carefully reviewing this process, OCR concluded that it may be more efficient to seek out worthy projects year round rather than during a constrained competitive cycle.

The Grant Process

OCR will evaluate applications on a case-by-case basis as they are received. Existing grants will be screened for continuing funding. The screening will be accomplished internally. Past awardees are not required to submit another application.

What Kinds of Projects are Likely to be Funded

OCR is considering projects that will deliver permittable water to the Columbia River or one of its tributaries. Permittable water is water that is stored, retimed, or conserved through crop change, fallowing, capturing previously unused runoff, etc.
