Instream Values Symposium:  A technical discussion for Economists and Biologists involved in natural resource and ecosystem valuation

Understanding instream resources valuation

Ecosystem valuation is very important to our current and future work at Department of Ecology and other state agencies like Fish and Wildlife and Natural Resources.  On June 11, 2008 a symposium was held with the intent to identify the use and methods of valuing instream resources and the value of protecting flows.

The Symposium featured speakers and a discussion that covered a wide range of technical topics such as fish valuation techniques, the value of instream flows and how these can be measured in the future.

Purpose of this symposium

The purpose of the Symposium is to connect economists in natural resource and ecosystem valuation to describe past and present research for valuing instream resources.  We will explore methodologies and validity, then discuss some central questions:

Symposium Studies, Research, and Presentations

The Symposium invited scientists and technical staff who work with instream flows, watershed restoration or similar areas of interest to submit abstracts to the Symposium.   Because the Symposium cannot possibly cover all of the work being done in these areas, all attendees, and those that can’t attend will have the opportunity to share scientific work, including:
