
The principle purpose of the workshops is to present information on water exchanges and water banking focused on Washington, including the statutory and policy framework existing in the state of Washington. They also provide a forum for discussion about efforts in western Washington to consider and develop exchange and banking approaches.
On November 21, 2008 Ecology hosted a workshop at the department of Ecology headquarters in Lacey to discuss Water Banking and Water Exchanges. The workshop was attended by a variety of participants including representatives from cities and counties, Ecology and other state agencies, federal agencies, tribes, watershed planning units, irrigation districts, public utilities, water conservancy boards, conservation districts, Washington Water Trust, Washington Rivers Conservancy, private consultants, and others.
