We will continue to work with our partners to find ways to be flexible and innovative in our approaches for getting better environmental results. Below are some of the areas we are focusing on:
See Ecology’s 2007-2009 Strategic Plan (page 3 or 5) and Four Year Action Plan.
Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with business sectors to improve long-term compliance and pollution prevention. Ecology has MOUs with:
B&O tax incentives
No-cost, confidential technical assistance and training
Revolving Loan Fund
Pollution Prevention Equipment and Technology Grants
Equipment Purchasing Programs.
And more.
The purpose of the footprint project is to develop a holistic measure of facility performance and evaluate whether or not this measurement is useful for:
identifying beyond compliance priorities for the facility,
developing priorities for our own staff, and
improving environmental performance at facilities.
The measurement tool we are using is the draft Facility Reporting Project sustainability indicators which include measures for environmental, social, and economic performance. This project is being coordinated with the Agency’s efforts to develop and advance an environmental leadership program.
