Permitting and Regulatory Processes
Ecology is working with the Governor's Office of Regulatory Assistance to
improve our environmental permitting and regulatory processes. We have:
- Implemented timeliness targets for how long it will take us to make
permit decisions.
- Developed the Online Permit Assistance System (OPAS) to help permit
applicants through the permit process. OPAS provides permit applicants:
- A project questionnaire to help them find out what permits they
might need for their project.
- A comprehensive permit handbook that gives the requirements for the
most common environmental permits.
- Permit process and decision-making schematics to help them
understand the variety of permit processes.
We will continue to survey our permit customers, every two years, to ask them
how well we are meeting their needs. We will share the survey results with our
advisory group and permit program Managers so we can continue to improve the
Washington’s environmental permitting and regulatory processes. We will also
regularly review and update our permitting information so our customers always
have current information.
