The Department of Ecology is engaged in ongoing efforts to improve customer service, the timeliness of our permit decisions and clarity of our permit processes. In 2002, Ecology determined that baseline data was needed for measuring the success of its permit improvement efforts through a permit applicant survey.
In the late summer of 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2008, Ecology contracted with the United States Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Statistics Service, to conduct a survey of persons or businesses who have applied for an environmental permit from Ecology. The survey requested permit applicants to state their level of satisfaction with Ecology’s customer service and the clarity and predictability of its permitting processes.
Ecology opened a field office in Vancouver Washington in November 1997. This office has the capacity to work with local government, businesses, and citizens on a variety of environmental issues (water Quality, toxics cleanup, Shorelines and Environmental Assistance, Vehicle emissions, and air quality).
The Vancouver Field Office conducted customer feedback surveys in the Vancouver area during the summers of 2000, 2004, and 2006. The surveys were designed to measure:
Satisfaction with delivery of services specific to the Vancouver area (responsiveness, professionalism and courtesy)
Effectiveness in partnering for improved environmental protection.
The survey results give us baseline information to gauge how well we are working with our customers. The 2000, 2004, 2006, and 2008 survey results along with comparison charts are listed below.
