Washington State Department of Ecology : Facility/Site Home
Facility/Site Database- What's New
- September 12, 2006
- A new version of the Facility Site was released. This is the first major revision to this web site in the ten years that
it has been in use. Reports, maps and the ability to export search results were added. Along with better searching tools.
- January 13, 2006
- The F/S home page was updated to reflect current information and updated links.
- September 7, 2001
- A link to the Facility/Site Atlas was added to the F/S home page.
- August 13, 2001
- A note was added to the main page for F/S on the Web briefly describing the scope and currency of facility/site data in F/S on the Web.
- June 29, 2000
- F/S on the Web has been migrated to the Microsoft Active Server Page (ASP) environment. As a result it
has also moved to a new location. Please be sure
to update your favorites list.
- May 5, 2000
- F/S on the Web now provides information on both Active and Inactive Ecology Interactions.
- January 3, 2000
- The QUERY by ZIP code function of F/S on the Web was updated to utilize an implicit
search instead of an exact match. Selecting '98409' now searches for records containing
'98409', '98409-0001', '98409-0002', etc.
- September 21, 1999
- The QUERY function of F/S on the Web was moved to a new server.
- May 26, 1999
- Several broken links to the Department's disclaimer were corrected.
- January 21, 1999
- The problems referenced below are believed to have been corrected by discontinuing the
use of port 88 effective today at 12:01 PM Pacific Time. We again apologize for any
inconvenience this has caused.
- December 21, 1998
- Many users appear to be having problems accessing the site. The site was rehosted and
when this was done the server was assigned a port number other than the default port used
by most servers. As such many firewalls will not allow this information to pass through.
Ecology is working with our ISP and hope to have the problem resolved before the end of
the year. We apologize for any inconvenience.
- September 24, 1998
- The Interaction Type Codes were updated and the link to the
Definitions page was activated.
- March 24, 1998
- Updated to only display those Facility/Sites that have at least one active interaction
with the Department of Ecology.
- January 28, 1998
- Additional layers added to the mapping options that display multiple sites. These
include railroads, water, minor streets, and others.
- Nov 6, 1997
- Added link to Maps on Us to provide an alternate
means of obtaining the latitude/longitude of a point. Click on the 'Maps' button, enter a
street address, and click on the point to obtain the lat/long. The lat/long will appear
along the lower edge of the map.
- Oct 20, 1997
- The mapping option on the F/S Detail page that displays mulitple sites has now been
activated.
- Oct 17, 1997
- The option to produce a map displaying all sites identifed by a query on
latitude/longitude has been activated.
- Oct 8, 1997
- All queries utilizing SIC code now perform implicit searches instead of exact matches.
Selecting '01' searches for records containing '01', '011', '0111', '0112', '012'
'0121'... as their SIC code.
- Query errors caused by the selection of an excessive number of parameters are now
trapped and an appropriate error message displayed. Users will no longer simply be
informed that "Your query returned no records".
- Added additional indexes to database to increase performance.
- Oct 3, 1997
- A problem with the advanced queries has been identified. The advanced queries that
utilize SIC codes were written to do exact matches only. (selecting '01'
finds only those records with '01' not '01', '011', '0111', '0112' ...) Work is in process
to correct this problem.
- Queries selecting by SIC code at the 3 or 4 digit level may not execute properly if a
large number of SIC codes are selected. The exact number of SIC codes allowed is dependant
upon the number of other parameters input but queries with up to 100 SIC codes seem to
work just fine. Queries that exceed the maximum allowable size will be aborted and no data
returned.
- September 16, 1997
- F/S on the Web is launched.
