Description:
Abstract:
Facility/Site locations are the X, Y coordinate locations of the Department of Ecology's regulated facilities throughout the State of Washington. The Facility/Site Database was developed through funding from Ecology's Information Integration Project (IIP). Its intent is an ongoing effort to provide accurate locations and attribute information about the state's regulated facilities in order to aid in environmental management and regulatory decision making processes.
Purpose:
Developed as a product from the Facility/Site Database, with the intent of showing the locations of Ecology's regulated facilities and to provide basic information about their operation and/or business characteristics (through extensive attributes and related tables).
Supplemental_Information:
(1) Washington state is divided into two State Plane Zones, north and south. For this data set, north zone data coordinates have been converted to south zone coordinates. (2) The focus of this shapefile was to provide spatial locations of Ecology's regulated facilities and a general array of attributes associated with them. A complete listing of attributes associated with the Facility/Site Database application is available in the Facility/Site Identification System Overview documentation. (3) The development of the Facility shapefile is part of an on going process of integrating Ecology's many "legacy" information systems into one in order to provide a streamline approach to information management. (4) The project was developed with funding from the Department of Ecology's Information Integration Project (IIP). (5) The Facility/Site Database acts as a central repository for information regarding Ecology's environmental management of facilities throughout the state. The database has six components upon which the facility/sites are managed; Facility/Site (Name, Physical location), Affiliation (Identifies key contact for the organization), Interaction (Identifies each Ecology department and their reasons for interest in the site), Association (Identifies each sub-site that may be present), and Feature (Identifies the physical structure within or associated with the site). (6) One of the system's main goals was to streamline the coding of spatially based attributes in instances of significant change (e.g. legislative and congressional districts). The coding is updated on a daily basis to provide the system with the accurate representation of its attributes.

Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report:
General accuracy: Determined by several items within the database. HOR_ACC_CD, COR_XTN_CD, and COR_VER_CD. The overall accuracy of the facility is determined by several factors including the size of the facility, scale, and collection method of the information. Accuracy is dependent upon each facility and is calculated individually for each site and then stored within an item named HOR_ACC_CD. The accuracy measurement etermined is the precision of the observation, computation, or estimate to the true value on the ground or the value being accepted as true.

1) Coordinates were pulled from several Sybase Tables retaining information about facility/sites around the state. 2) Coordinates derived from Public Land Survey Sections coverage. AML sub-routines place facility locations in centroid of reported section sub-division (quarter-quarter section). 3) A point coverage was produced using the Generate command within Arc/Info. 4) Point coverage was built and topology restored. 5) Point coverage projected to Washington State Plane Coordinates South Zone (WASPCSZ) 6) Point coverage converted to a shapefile 7) Interaction table converted from INFO format to dBase format.
