Description:
Abstract:
Shows point on a stream where downstream of that point a stream becomes a Shoreline of Statewide Significance (SSS). In western Washington this is where the flow reaches 1000 cubic feet per second. In eastern Washington it is the point downstream where the annual flow is measured at 200 cubic feet per second OR from the first 300 square miles of drainage area, whichever is larger.
Purpose:
Develop a more accurate method to determine the upstream boundary point for streams and rivers that come under the jurisdiction of the Shoreline Management Act
Supplemental_Information:
This is NOT the official dataset for SSS. It has not been officially adopted and is considered DRAFT data. These shoreline points were determined by USGS in three studies commissioned by the Department of Ecology. The first study considered streams for western Washington. The second study added steams and basins in northeastern Washington, and finally a third study added streams in southeastern Washington.
