Description:

Abstract:: This Layer is the spatial representation of the Ecology Publication No. 06-10-038: Waters Requiring Supplemental Spawning and Incubation Protection for Salmonid Species and is part of the Water Quality Standards for Surface Waters of the State of Washington (Chapter 173-201A WAC). These data indicated where and when additional temperature criteria are required to ensure protection for the incubation of salmon, trout, and char. Spawning information in these data are seasonal and must be used in conjunction with other aquatic life use information provided in Part II of the water quality standards. When the Supplemental Temperature data does not apply (see dates for the attribute table), the underlying annual temperature applies.
Purpose:: This dataset contains spatial and attribute information of the Seasonal Supplemental Temperature Standards for Salmonids and must be used in conjunction with other temperature data in the Water Quality Standards for Surface Waters for Washington Chapter 173-201A WAC. The temperatures represented in these data represent the regulatory maximum threshold for the time period specified.
Supplemental_Information:: See the Water Quality Standards, WAC 173-201A, for regulatory application. The datasets for the supplemental temperature criteria publication 06-10-038 originated with Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife at the scale of 1:100,000. Data were reviewed and amended by EPA and others during the 2006 water quality standards rulemaking process. Ecology then cross-walked the resulting data to 1:24,000 Hydroframework dataset.

The 13-character longitude/latitude derived unique watercourse route identifier (this is also known as LLID in the federal arena.) All watercourse segments are grouped into watercourse routes. The identifier is based on position of the downstream point (mouth) of the watercourse. The identifier code is composed by concatenating the decimal degree values (to four places of precision) of the coordinates (minus the decimal points).
