Local health departments offer a wide variety of programs to promote human and environmental health, help prevent disease, and build healthy communities. Local services vary.

Contact your local health department or district if you have questions about:

• Alcohol, drug and tobacco prevention programs
• Childcare training and school health education
• Food safety and worker permits
• Nutrition classes
• Handling rodents, bats and other critters that carry disease
• Drinking water; well and public pool testing
• Vaccinations and blood borne pathogens

Washington Department of Health

The state Department of Health educates the public, manages health data and participates in state planning about reducing toxic threats to citizens.

They partner with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institute of Health, and others involved in protecting and promoting public health.
