Focusing on the Drayton Harbor watershed

Whatcom County Public Works Natural Resources Division is leading pollution identification and correction (PIC) efforts in focus areas of the Drayton Harbor watershed.

County staff and program partners including Whatcom Conservation District offer technical assistance and financial assistance opportunities to landowners to help fix identified fecal coliform bacteria pollution sources.

Program activities

The PIC program began in summer 2013. Activities include:

  • Monitoring water quality to prioritize pollution reduction efforts.
  • Sharing information and engaging community members.
  • Connecting landowners to technical and financial assistance programs provided through Whatcom Conservation District and other agencies.
